This was taken during a recent trip to Mongolia to photograph artworks for an exhibition catalogue for the Art Gallery of NSW. The experience was frantic and the funny thing about this shot apart from the obvious location, is that usually we would try and avoid any colour bouncing back into the artwork being photographed. As I was led in to the room to ask if the space was suitable (well actually I didn't have much choice!) I just kind of gave up on the spot of having any chance of having a colour neutral capture! I looked at the bright orange floor and painted ceilings and thought that sometimes you just have to work with what you have and get on with the challenge. I might add at the same time I was wearing a thick down jacket inside with thermals and gloves. The temperature would have been close to zero indoors. I have to say that this photograph encapsulates the experience of photographing for this particular job over 9 days, at the time it was a real challenge, but now I think it was a great opportunity!
